Maal Hijrah 1438H : A New Beginning

Hijrah is about change. It is about repentance. It is about transformation. It is about reforms. It is about renaissance. Hijrah is more than just about changing your place of abode to a new address.

Salam 'Alaik..

I guess it's not too late to wish all my Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed Maal Hijrah. May Allah shower us with rahmah and berkah throughout our lives,Insya Allah..

Maal Hijrah, which is also called Awal Muharram, is an important day for Muslim. It falls on the first day of Muharram on every Muslim calendar year, which is the first day on muslim calendar. The meaning of Maal Hijrah is migration. On this day, Muslims remember The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migration from Mekah to Madinah 1438 years ago. Besides, Maal Hijrah also mean changes from bad to good side and can be a starting point to evaluate inner-self on self achievement. Awal means begining and Muharram is the first month of muslim calendar.

And for this year, the 1st Muharram falls on Sunday-a significant day in Islam. This day is special because Allah has singled out for blessings which are not to be found on any other days. It is the weekly festivals of Muslims and it has many special features. Sunday is the day which Allah chose from among all the days of the week, just as He chose Ramadhan from among the months of the year and Lailatul Qadar from among all the nights, and Makkah from among all places on earth, and Muhammad from all of mankind.

Subhanallah,it's truly amazing to discover how great Allah's planning is.

Looking back to the past years, I did not do much,I can say. Lots more to improve especially in ibadah aspects. Excuses are always there for not doing this and that, and most of the time people blame the TIME. But do we realize that we’re actually the time manager in our daily lives? Blame ourselves for not being able to manage the time wisely.

Being a Muslim, it has always been urged by our religion to save time. I would like to quote a hadith in this context. A reminder for myself and all of you as well.

“On the Day of Resurrection, man will be asked about four matters: How he spent his lifetime; how he spent his youth; from where he acquired his wealth and how he spent it; and what he did with his knowledge.”

In this hadith there are two questions about time, the first is generally about his lifetime and the second is about his youth being the most fertile age stage with respect to work and productivity.”
