Don’t assume that good deeds will be enough to get Paradise. On the Day of Judgement, if you add up all of your good deeds, do you think they will be enough to pay Allah for your heart or your vision?
There is a reason why Muslims refer to themselves as slaves. Slaves are forever in debt and we can’t get out of it. The more you live the more debt you will get into. A slave cannot have anything except that of which his master has provided for him.
So how do we get Paradise then? If good deeds are not enough to get us into Paradise so how do we earn Paradise? We are trying to earn Allah’s mercy and forgiveness so that He will let us enter Paradise. - aboutislam.net
